Who Am I?

Hi and welcome to A Love to Learn. I am a mom of four children, wife, teacher and advisor. I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education and Special Education. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Whenever people ask me how long I have been homeschooling I tell them ever since my oldest was born. I truly believe that parents are always teaching their children from the moment they are born.

I never planned on homeschooling my children. It was a decision that kind of just happened. One thing I really want for my children is that they love learning so that they continue to strive to explore and question the things that interest them so that they continue to learn their entire life. I have learned a lot through my journey and I am still learning new things all the time! I want to share the wealth of knowledge that I’ve accumulated so you have a much clearer path of success for you and your child.

My Philosophy

I truly believe that children are capable human beings who just need to be nurtured in a way that brings out their true potential. Many times I have parents asking me how I get my children to do something. My answer is that you must give your child the confidence and let them know that you believe in them. Children are smarter than we take them for. “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.

To truly teach young children we need to make learning a lifestyle. Children learn through everyday experiences and by incorporating their senses. It’s important to remember that when we teach young children, we shouldn’t focus on just academics. We need to also incorporate everyday life skills that promote independence, emotional skills, and growth mindset skills.

Once learning becomes a lifestyle, it is easy to incorporate learning activities into your days. A critical part to make learning a lifestyle is to give them plenty of spaces to explore and create on their own. We need to allow them to ask questions and lead them to find the answers on their own. There is nothing sweeter than watching your child accomplish tasks on their own and learn something new. Creating a love of learning at a young age is critical so that we can keep the passion growing as they get older. If you can create strong roots of learning then it can build your child into a strong, independent learner.

My goal is to educate you on how to teach your child from home. Teaching your child does not have to take hours to plan or cost lots of money. I can show you how to incorporate meaningful lessons that will ignite a love of learning in your child. I will give you tips and suggestions so that you can incorporate the things you feel will fit into your learning lifestyle.
